Egon Theiner was born in Bolzano Italy in 1968. After graduating from high school, he decided to study Law for a while but was also interested in sports and journalism. He began his journalism career as a trainee for the daily newspaper Dolomiten before becoming a sports editor for the South Tyrolean Sunday newspaper Zett. He relocated to Austria in 1995 where he took on many sports-related jobs such as working for the sports department, reporting for the Winter Olympics and doing some freelance journalism for the well-known Italian sports newspaper La Gazetto dello Sport. Egon published his first book in 1999 and is the author of more than 20 books on the topics of sports and self-management. He founded his own sports book publishing company in 2004 called egoth, which is based in Vienna.
